Life membership for Stuart Easton

Stuart Easton was conferred life membership at last week’s AGM following a magnificent 25-year stint with the band. The recent NZ Championships was also his swan-song, with his focus now firmly on family, solo piping and teaching.

P/M Stewart McKenzie paid tribute to his good friend and right hand man: “Stu leaves behind a fantastic legacy. This will only grow as his pupils in the band, of which there are several, continue to grow in number and forge their own path. It’s a great example of succession, and Stu will continue to be a big part of the Tu family.”

“Personally, it’s been an honour and a privilege having Stu alongside me for almost 20-years as Pipe Sergeant. He has been an outstanding leader and role-model, a huge musical influence, and a great friend”.

Stu has shared in the highlights and successes of the band since 1996, and takes many fond memories with him. He commented: “I feel very honoured to receive this recognition for over half a lifetime’s commitment. Thanks again for the memories and the lifelong friendships”.
