PN Boys High School secures Gold Medallist Tutor

Students at Palmerston North Boys High School now have access to one of the world’s top bagpipers as Stuart Easton takes over as the Piping Tutor of the local secondary school.
Stuart has always had a passion for teaching and has a wealth of experience teaching privately and in schools. This includes his time with John McGlashan College in Dunedin, winning back-to-back Juvenile national titles at the NZ Pipe band Championships.
He is committed to community involvement and is excited to provide opportunities for Palmerston North Boys High School students at parades, community engagements, and school events.
Stuart has amassed an extensive list of solo piping awards, both nationally and internationally. His list of achievements includes winning all the major prizes in New Zealand and Australia as well as success in France and Scotland with his highest achievement to date winning the 2018 Gold Medal at the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban, Scotland – Piping’s highest honour.
While the pandemic has temporarily put a halt to international travel his services are still in high demand as a tutor, adjudicator, and performer, both on-line and in person.
Stuart is also a life member of the Manawatu Scottish Pipe Band. He has recently retired, after 25 years’ service to the band, to concentrate on his solo piping career and spend more time with his young family.
Stuart is looking forward to sharing his passion for piping and pipe bands with his students.
